Costco Samples Strike Again

Costoc is really good at selling me on their sample items.  Most of the time, when I sample something, I think; "I must have this at home!"  I guess that's why they have the samples, huh?

Caprese Chicken Sausage
from Costco

This is the first time I think that I sampled something in the store at Costco, thought, "yum, this is so good I must buy it.", brought it home, and decided it wasn't really that great.  Hmmm maybe I was extra hungry in the store that day.

These sausages were not bad at all, they just weren't quite as good as I remember that sample tasting.  They're a chicken sausage with mozzarella cheese, spinach, and tomatoes throughout.  The best part is that since they're chicken, they're pretty healthy.

Grades:

Megan - B- (In terms of sausage, these are ok.  I like that they're healthy though and I don't have to feel bad about eating them.)

Noelle - B+ (Noelle ate these pretty well, but you could tell she wasn't nearly as excited about these as she is with other sausage like bratwurst or hot dogs.)

Portillos On A Diet

Let me tell you...eating out is never easy when you're on a diet.  Portillos is probably one of the hardest places to do it!  All I wanted was a big fat cheeseburger, cheese fries, and a chocolate malt.  But, considering the menu, I think I did pretty well.  And it tasted good too!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Portillos

I was so depressed that I couldn't order any of my favorite things from Portillos and had to get this chicken sandwich instead.  However, it actually was really good! Was it good because I was starving and anything would've tasted good?  Was it good because it's actually not that healthy and they slather it some unknown fattiness like butter?  Or was it good because it was actually good?  We'll never really know, but I'm going to say it was actually good.  I'd order it again...if I was on a diet.  If I wasn't on a diet I'd probably stick to the other less-healthy options.

Grades:

Megan - B+ (I couldn't give this an A because there are just so many other things at Portillos that are worthy of an A.  This was quite good though and I was pleasantly surprised.)

Noelle - A+ (Noelle had a hot dog and fries and she loved every bite of it.  Way to rub it in my face Noelle.)

BBQ A Salad

Salad is not the first thing you typically think of when you hear the word barbecue, however it can be done...kind of.  This is an interesting twist on a typical strawberry salad for those hot August nights.

This was a very unique salad due to the Strawberry barbecue sauce dressing.  Maybe not unique in a good way.  I kind of thought the combination of the strawberries with the barbecue sauce was a little strange.  And it was a little more involved to make the dressing than I like.  At least it was filling and summery though, right?

Grades:

Megan - C- (The flavor combination was off to me and it took too long to make the dressing with all the roasting and blending.  Not a winner in my book.)

Noelle - Still doesn't eat salads
